In this problem we select a column section for one of the columns in the dormitory building. This problem illustrates a tributary area computation and the iterative nature of process for selecting a member. This problem illustrates the "brute force" approach to finding the lightest section that meets given criteria. The solution highlights potential problems with the manual search method used in example 7.2. |
