Path A-B-E-G

This is  NOT A VALID PATH for two reasons! 

One ABEG is not a valid path because path segment AB is parallel to the direction of force.  In other words it does not have a directional component that is prependicular to the direction of force.

The other reason is that both halves have bolts associated with them, meaning that both halves are connected to the same member.
