Example Problem 7.1

This problem gives effective lengths in two orthogonal directions and asks you to compute the capacity of various types of sections or the given conditions.

Example Problem 7.2

In this problem we select a column section for one of the columns in the dormitory building.  This problem illustrates a tributary area computation and the iterative nature of process for selecting a member.

Example Problem 7.3

This problem illustrates the "brute force" approach to finding the lightest section that meets given criteria.  The solution highlights potential problems with the manual search method used in example 7.2.
